Temporary Residence Visas
South African immigration law makes provision for temporary residence visas on the basis of the following situations:
Note that these should not be confused with the visas. Visas are not permanent residence permits. A visa only allows you entry to South Africa based on certain criteria. The immigration officer at the airport or harbour will examine your visa, and if they are satisfied, they will issue your temporary residence visa.
In addition to the forms and documents required by each type of visa, you may also have to provide the following.
- Form BI-806 – a radiological report
- Form BI-811 – a medical certificate
All forms are available on this website, on the Forms page.
